Rob Whittaker pulling out at the last minute, Kelvin Gastelum declaring he was the new middleweight king, and Israel Adesanya defeating Anderson Silva was not enough for Dana White to even consider stripping the Aussie champ of his belt.

According to the UFC president, Whittaker is expected to be out for 4 to 6 weeks, and the organisation is more than willing to wait for him.

White, however, refused to guarantee Gastelum would get the next title shot, despite what he labelled a “cute” stunt by the challenger, who draped Henry Cejudo’s flyweight belt over his shoulder as he claimed he should now be considered the 185-pound champ.

“We have to see how this thing plays out with the champ and see how long he’s going to be out,” White told reporters at the conclusion of UFC 234.

“Then we’ll go from there.”
