Australia’s greatest cycling race, the Santos Tour Down Under, is heading back to Channel 7, with some old and new faces leading the network’s exclusive TV and online coverage.

The “voice of cycling”, Phil Liggett, returns to spearhead the broadcast of the 11-day Santos Festival of Cycling, which kicks off with the final stage of the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under on January 13, followed by the Men’s Down Under Classic later the same afternoon.

English-born Liggett, 75, whose dulcet tones have been synonymous with cycling for decades, will be joined by former Australian cycling champion Robbie McEwen in the commentary booth for wheel-to-wheel coverage of the southern hemisphere’s biggest bike race.

Sunrise sport presenter and cycling fanatic Mark Beretta will host Seven’s broadcast of the event, which continues with daily live coverage of the men’s Santos Tour Down Under from January 15-20.

There will also be a highlights program each night on Channel 7.
