MAYBE not the best idea.

UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov has sent for the organisation’s president, Dana White, in a light-hearted Instagram post Wednesday.

The Russian — who defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229 to defend his title — wasn’t awarded his belt in the Octagon, with worries over the crowd’s reaction after his decision to leap out of the cage, and attack his opponent’s training partner Dillon Danis.

And the UFC boss hit back in the comments section: “LMFAO!!!! I’m telling your father.”

Nurmagomedov has since returned to Dagestan to a hero’s welcome.

“I’d prayed to the Almighty every day not to have injuries, for it all happen,” Nurmagomedov told his fans, who welcomed the champ back home.

After months of speculation, and then a short spell where we thought Valentina Schevchenko versus Sijara Eubanks was the headline act, Dana White has come good on his promise of delivering a blockbuster bout.

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Daniel Cormier will defend his heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis on November 4 (AEST) at Madison Square Garden. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, White confirmed “the fight is done”, with both parties agreeing to terms.

Cormier versus Lewis will be the main attraction on one of the best cards in recent memory.

And the announcement comes at a good time, with Dustin Poirier reportedly pulling out of the co-main event Wednesday; an undisclosed injury meaning the UFC will need to find a new opponent for Nate Diaz.

Elsewhere on the card, Luke Rockhold faces Chris Weidman, Ronaldo Souza battles David Branch, and New Zealander Israel Adesanya goes up against Derek Brunson.

The new UFC 230 main event also means Shevchenko will be moved back to UFC 231, where she’ll face Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Lewis is coming off a miracle comeback win against Alexander Volkov at UFC 229, where the ‘Black Beast’ was set for a unanimous decision loss when he knocked out his Russian opponent with 11 seconds to spare in the final round.

Cormier (21-1) is the UFC’s light heavyweight and heavyweight champion and hoped to fight

But the organisation needed a big main event at a venue where some of the biggest stars have fought since mixed martial arts was legalised in New York two years ago, and that pressed Lewis and Cormier into action.
